STAFFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL CONSULTATION ON PROPOSALS AFFECTING AUDLEY LIBRARY (AND OTHERS)
HAVE YOUR SAY ON WHAT YOU WANT TO SEE HAPPEN TO YOUR LIBRARY AND YOUR MOBILE LIBRARY SERVICE
Latest position – Letter from Cllr Adams at Staffordshire County Council on 29th September 2015:
As you will be aware from my recent communication, the county council has now offered
contracts to community groups to manage and deliver 11 of Staffordshire’s libraries.
In addition to formal applications we also received a number of i nformal expressions of
interest from organisations interested in managing and delivering their local library.
As a result of feedback from community groups for more time to develop their applications,
a decision has now been taken that a further formal application phase will be held in April
2016. Any community group will be welcome to apply to manage and deliver Audley
Library.
The timing of this second application phase ensures that community groups will have
sufficient time to develop their plans, and to access the support that is available through
the county council.
It will also enable communities to draw on the experiences and ideas of those that will lead
the first community libraries in Staffordshire – we hope that many will be open by April
2016.
We will of course keep you updated as to the development of community managed and
delivered libraries through regular bulletins. Up to date information will also be available at
www.staffordshire.gov.uk/communitylibraries
Please don’t hesitate to contact us on connectedlibraries@staffordshire.gov.uk if you have
any questions about this process. Your local District Commissioning Lead will continue to
be your local point of contact and support moving forward.
Yours sincerely
County Councillor Ben Adams
Cabinet Member for Learning and Skills
Staffordshire County Councillor for Perrycrofts, Tamworth
