Technical information about this website’s accessibility

Audley Rural Parish Council is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

This website is fully compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 AA standard.

What we’ve done to improve accessibility

Following a full audit carried out in May 2026, we implemented an extensive programme of accessibility improvements across the site, including:

  • Colour contrast — All instances of non-compliant text, heading and link colours have been replaced with WCAG 2.2 AA-compliant alternatives throughout, including the removal of all inline colour styles
across multiple pages (WCAG 1.4.3, WCAG 1.4.1)
  • Link text — All vague or non-descriptive link labels such as “click here” and “please click here to view” have been replaced with meaningful, descriptive text across the entire site — including minutes
archives spanning 2022 to 2026, financial documents, policy pages, speed indicator data, and Local Plan consultation pages (WCAG 2.4.4)
  • Raw URLs as link text — All instances of raw URLs used as link text have been replaced with descriptive labels (WCAG 2.4.4)
  • Images and alt text — Images with missing, invalid or filename-based alternative text have been updated with meaningful descriptions. Redundant alt text duplicating surrounding content has been corrected
    (WCAG 1.1.1)
  • Empty and redundant links — Empty anchor tags and redundant duplicate links have been identified and removed (WCAG 2.4.4)
  • Data tables — Data tables, including the polling station table, have been updated with proper column headers using <th scope="col"> elements so screen readers can correctly
    interpret the data (WCAG 1.3.1)
  • Layout tables — Layout tables have been marked with role="presentation" so screen readers do not incorrectly interpret them as data tables (WCAG 1.3.1)
  • Decorative images — Images that duplicate linked or surrounding content have been marked with role="presentation" to avoid redundancy for screen reader users (WCAG 1.1.1)
  • Inline styles — Redundant font-size and colour inline styles have been stripped throughout to ensure consistent, theme-controlled rendering
  • Page titles — Duplicate page titles have been made unique to ensure screen reader users can correctly identify each page (WCAG 2.4.2)

Known accessibility issues

The following issues are currently outstanding:

  • Most older PDF documents are not fully accessible to screen reader software. Any new PDFs we publish will meet accessibility standards. If an older document is inaccessible to you, please contact us and we will provide
it in an alternative format as soon as possible
  • It is not currently possible to modify line height or text spacing via the website interface
