Planning Matters

The Council consults and forms opinions on every planning application received in the Parish.  Comments are invited on planning applications of any size which are publicised on the next available Parish Council meeting agenda.  If you have any concerns about a pending planning application please contact your nearest Parish Councillor for the relevant Parish Ward or attend the next Parish Council – when the item is included on the agenda.  Agendas can be viewed on this website or on the 8 parish noticeboards at least 3 clear days before a meeting.  The comments submitted on planning applications can be viewed either through the relevant meeting minutes within this website https://audleyparishcouncil.gov.uk/minutes/ or by viewing the relevant planning application and the documents on the Newcastle under Lyme Borough Council’s planning website – http://publicaccess.newcastle-staffs.gov.uk/online-applications/

Parish Councils are invited to comment on applications in their parishes, but ultimately the decision rests with the Planning Authority i.e. Newcastle under Lyme Borough Council – which will be considered in line with the local development plans and policies, and also the National Planning Policy Framework 2012.

A very useful guide has been produced jointly by the Borough Council and Stoke on Trent City Council which provides helpful information regarding the planning process both in terms of planning applications and the Joint Local Plan.  You can view a copy of the document called the Statement of Community Involvement (August 2015) here .
